Kaffie-Frederick is a General Mercantile Store, and we specialize in having inventory of just about everything – from the kitchen staples available on this web site to the obscure and rare hardware items that aren’t. If you need something that is NOT listed on this web site – we probably have it and if we don’t, we can get it. In addition, our staff are experts, so not only can we find your product, we can usually tell you what to do with it or how to use it.

Every day we get asked a new question, and every day we fulfill these special requests quickly and efficiently. Below you’ll find just a tiny sample of some of the questions we’ve recently been asked – and how we solved the problem.

So, hit us with your best shot; be willing to give us a day or so. We’ll do our best to fulfill your needs in a friendly and helpful manner – with expert advice as your bonus.

A few recent Special Inquiries..

QUESTION: My daughter came home from school assigned with a project about horseshoes. For her project, we need to know if there are different sizes of horseshoes, if so, how many sizes. And we must provide samples of each different shoe type. Can you help us?

LUKE: Yes, there are many different sizes of horseshoes. Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile Store happens to carry 13 different horseshoe sizes and styles in stock. Prices range from $1.50 - $5.00 per shoe depending on size and style. We’ll be happy to e-mail you a list of sizes and prices to help with your daughter’s project.

QUESTION: My wife broke a key off in the door lock of our home. Is there any special tool that I can use to help get the broken key out of the lock?

LUKE: In fact, we do carry a small tool very similar to a dental pick that is used specifically for fishing broken keys out of locks.

QUESTION: I need SIXTEEN cypress rocking chairs. I need these chairs to be to match some I already have, to be well-built out of Louisiana cypress and be delivered and painted by Easter (three weeks away).

LUKE: We can deliver the chairs by Easter. We can’t paint. (This was a local delivery. Chairs are available in-store only.)

QUESTION: My husband is building his dream camp in the woods. There is nothing more that I would rather do than to surprise him with than an authentic cast iron wood heater. Is this a product you carry or have access to?

LUKE: Yes, we have both boxwood heaters (rectangular in shape) and pot belly shaped (which are round and bulge in the middle).

QUESTION: We live in an older home. The plumbing is original, and the water flow has diminished over the years. Our shower doesn’t seem to put out much water. What can we do short of tearing out the wall?

LUKE: Try this trick. Take the shower head off. Turn the crook neck of the shower arm half a turn with the opening of the pipe pointed upwards. Pour LimeAway into the neck of the inverted neck. Allow it to settle down at the shower valve. This product should eat away the built up calcium and lime deposits and increase your water flow. This trick doesn’t work everytime, but it works a lot of the time.

QUESTION: During both Hurricane Katrina and Rita, our electricity was off for an extended period. Do you remember those old style drip style coffee pots? Are they still available?

LUKE: Not only do we remember them, but we sell two types. One is a a Drip-O-Lator type and one French Drip style.

QUESTION: Where can I find a hand-crank ice cream freezer?

LUKE: Right here at Kaffie Frederick General Mercantile Store. Just call us, and we’ll ship one to your door.
